School Elections

Effective in 2005, school elections will no longer be under the jurisdiction of the school administration, but are under the jurisdiction of township clerks with the county clerk being the chief administrator.  Voters residing in the Central Lake School District will vote in Central Lake in the community hall of the Township office located at 1622 N M88.  Voters residing in the Elk Rapids School District will vote in the meeting room of the Torch Lake Township offices at 5081 N US 31 in Eastport as state law requires that, when a school districts enrollment exceeds 5000, each township in that school district must hold school elections in their own precincts.

Absentee Ballots

Voters in the Central Lake School District who need absentee ballots for a school election will request them from the Central Lake Township Clerk.  Voters in the Elk Rapids School District will request absentee ballots from the Torch Lake Township Clerk.  All township voters in other than school elections will request them from the Township Clerk.

Applications for Absentee Ballot may be obtained from the office of the Clerk or may be printed out by clicking on Application for Absentee Ballot.

Any questions on elections or voter registrations should be addressed to the Clerk.
