DRAFT MINUTES OF TOWNSHIP BOARD

MARCH 16, 2010 SPECIAL MEETING

COMMUNITY SERVICE BUILDING

EASTPORT, MICHIGAN

Present:  Parker, Tomlinson, Martel and Windiate

Absent:  Schultz

Audience:  2

THE PURPOSE OF THIS SPECIAL MEETING IS TO WORK ON BUDGETS ONLY.  OTHER ISSUES WHICH WOULD NORMALLY COME BEFORE A REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD WILL ONLY BE ACTED UPON IF THE FULL BOARD IS PRESENT AND THERE IS A NEED FOR URGENCY.

1.  Meeting convened at 5:35 PM.  The Board conducted a final review of the Budgets before the annual meeting this Saturday.  Items that came up for discussion included looking into paying off the fire truck early and using money from fund balance.  This would eliminate the cost of interest for the next 4 years.  We should also look into paying off the building loan early for the same reason, or at least look into the possibility of getting a reduced interest rate.    Look at other township Fire Departments and “grasshopper” trucks for the future.

2.  Salaries and Wages for other Township employees.  It was recommended by our Township Salary Committee that no changes in wages be made at this time.

3. Due to the regular Board meeting at 7:00 PM the meeting was postponed at 6:45 PM.

4. Meeting re-convened at 8:00 PM.  After further discussion the Motion by Martel that we accept the proposed changes for EMS pay scale and job descriptions as it applies to all EMS personnel subject to the development of job descriptions and wage scale for EMS effective April 1, 2010 was seconded and passed 3-0, with Windiate and Schultz absent.

5. Meeting was adjourned at 8:40 PM
