April was a quiet month. At the last Board meeting we approved the contracts for the Day Park Cleaning service and our Lawncare service which covers the Day Park, Cemetery, South Fire Station and the CSB building.

I encourage our residents in the Elk Rapids School District to investigate the services provided by the Central Lake Library and their annual fee for visitors is only $20. You can visit the Website and click on the discussion letter at the top left of the page to get more insight into Township’s position with regards to the Elk Rapids Library discussion. In addition, I have submitted a response to the Elk Rapids paper to give a more in-depth look at the issues around the Elk Rapids District Library actions.

APRIL 2025 PRELIMINARY FINANCIAL RESULTS

April is the first month of the fiscal year so numbers will not be indicative of any trends. We will run deficits until tax collection begins in December

REVENUE $104,315 Higher than prior year $1,685 and above budget by $39,371 

EXPENSES ($158,057) Higher than prior year ($8,147) and lower vs budget by $70,003 

NET ($ 53,742) Loss is higher than prior year ($6,462) and lower than budget $109,374*

*Variance of $109,374 favorability to budget was driven by timing of new carpeting in the CSB Bldg. of $25k. Additionally, we did not get the invoice in time for April payment for the downpayment associated with our road work projects budgeted for $57k . . . Revenues were higher than budget by $39K across all funds.
