As we head into Fall, the Township continues to move forward with key projects. September was another quiet month. The Board approved road work for the TLT Day Park. We will be expanding the Day Park entrance to include the exit point from the parking lot. We will be closing the current exit as we try to minimize the traffic congestion that occurs closer to the boat ramp.
The Board will be holding a couple of special meetings as we begin reworking the Board Policy book. The meeting notifications will be posted at the post office, on our website and Constant Contact.
We had a good turnout to the Township Open House with a lot of dialogs between citizens and our Zoning Administrator. Once the Planning Commission reviews the results I hope to get a report from them for review at our November Board meeting.
We have an opening on the Zoning Board of appeals. Anyone interested in serving on the ZBA should contact me prior to October 15, 2026 at supervisorcook@torchlaketownship.org
It is hard to believe but we are halfway through this fiscal year.
SEPTEMBER 2026 YTD PRELIMINARY FINANCIAL RESULTS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2026-2027
REVENUE $280,340 Lower than prior year ($27,790) and Higher than budget by $41,260
EXPENSES ($897,120) Lower than prior year ($563,760) and Lower vs budget by $203,220
NET ($616,780) Loss is lower than the previous year $535,970* and budget $244,480
*The Favorable variance to prior year of $535,970 was driven by the downpayment for the road fund for work in 2025 of $312,750 and the $150,000 downpayment on the fire truck in 2025. There is no road work planned in 2026. Favorability against budget is driven by the delay in the delivery of our fire pumper truck.
TOWNSHIP MEETINGS: PLEASE MONITOR THE WEBSITE FOR UPDATES
The Planning Commission will be meeting on October 19, 2026, at 7 PM. The ZBA will not be meeting in October. Next meeting is November 10 and not November 18th. Please monitor the website for any changes.
The Board will be meeting October 20th at 7 PM.
